Dave Hill has been a big inspiration to me since I first got into photography. He is one of the photographers who truly set the bar for both photographic creativity, lighting and post processing. The photo above is my personal favorite of his collection to date. With so much detail and spot on lighting, this is truly a masterwork in the art of photography. I among others would love to learn his techniques and perhaps in the future he will throw a photographic bone to calm our seething interest in his world of true magic.

Layer Mask for total control

In my opinion layer masks are one of the most important things you can learn in Photoshop. The ability to make adjustments to your photos and mask out the parts that you don't want affected completely, or partially, is a vital step in the editing process. Additionally, layer masks allot you to combine photos and have total control over how to do this.
