*Video* Photoshop Tutorial: How to use layer masks

Layer Mask for total control

In my opinion layer masks are one of the most important things you can learn in Photoshop. The ability to make adjustments to your photos and mask out the parts that you don't want affected completely, or partially, is a vital step in the editing process. Additionally, layer masks allot you to combine photos and have total control over how to do this.

Not only does understand and using layer masks allow you to fine tune which part of you image is affected and to what degree but using layer masks is a non destructive method of editing. This means at any point during your editing process, you can go back to mask in or out with your layer mask and nothing is ever lost. I made this video to hopefully help shed some light on layer masks for those of you who are unclear on their use and how it works. I wanted to show in real time how to use them and why.
